In memory of Elwood the Basset Hound

Resident Rescue silly old boofer Elwood retired today. When I picked him up from SpokAnimal in Oct of 2005, he looked older than dirt, like he couldn't walk out of the kennel. I figured he deserved his last few months in a comfy house having some good grub.. Dr Ryan did a dental on him and guess his age at 14. As you know that was 2 years ago. Until today, when he didn't eat breakfast (he always boofing until he got his breakfast and dinner). Later this afternoon, he couldn't get up, we talked about it and he gave me a weak boof, to let me know it was time. He was such a character as an old man - bet he was a hoot in his younger day. So raise a toast to Elwood, that silly wonderful old coot.

Elwood was picked up by animal control, and his Owner never came to claim him. Elwood is a senior, but a wonderful, funny boy, who hasn't missed many meals. He is house trained and gives a wonderful deep WOOF, when he wants to go out and come back in. Since I have dog doors, I go to the door and show him the doggy door, he gives this low woof like "You're here, just open the door!". He loves to have his butt scratched, and lets you know you are doing a great thing. Elwood is a wonderful fun old gentleman, who when not curled up on a warm pillow will make you laugh. If you have room in your home a heart for the great boy - call to come and have a look
