In Memory of Freckles the Basset Hound
We adopted Freckles from Pat at WABR when it was still
Spokane Basset Rescue and we were one of her first adopters.
My husband found the ad in the paper and called Pat, she asked all the
perfect questions as she always does and the next weekend brought Freckles to us
for a home check and that was all she wrote, She drove up and this beautiful
basset was sitting in the back, out she
came and it was love at first site. She moved in, made friends with our
bassador Murphy and she showed us all a basset can be.
No food, especially chocolate was safe, she loved to sit or patrol our backyard
as though it was hers to own, and she did. She was famous for stealing food,
even Christmas presents triple wrapped were not safe from her snooter,
especially chocolate, she never got
sick, we did all we could to keep it from her, but sometimes she found chocolate
we forgot we had hidden! We fell in love with bassets and their has been no
looking back, We noticed her slowing down but at 13 that is expected, but we
lost our beloved Murphy in May of 09 and lost our wonderful Daizey Doo over
Christmas. Freckles was in kidney failure, had pneumonia, lost her desire for
food and we knew it was time, she went quickly, I believe she knew we were ok,
and she missed her siblings, We are lost without our princess but so grateful
for the time we had together. Eat all you want in heaven Freckles, including
chocolate, just save some for me. I will see you again Princess, there will
never be another Freckie Deckie Beckie dog quite like you in our lives, We love
you, Tammara, Robert and Quenton.
