In Memory of Sam

He was such a handsome 5-year-old boy! We obtained him from the Spokane Basset Rescue in June 2002, and thoroughly enjoyed him for the very short 6 months before he got sick and passed away in December 2002. His personality was typical of basset hounds, mixed with his own special antics & sweet disposition. Whether he wanted in your lap or begged for your food, he would put that precious face of his right on your leg or chair edge and look ever-so mournfully at you in hopes of winning over your heart and getting his way. He liked to be the BIG MAN, but then again enjoyed being babied & pampered.

We don’t really know what Sam got sick with, although we suspect cancer. But he was a trooper to the end. One challenge was our multi-level floors requiring many steps to climb & descend. This he managed until his last week on earth. The last day he came upstairs, it seemed he made a point of coming to each of us - being extra attentive, as if he knew he was slipping away from us. We still hold a very special place in our hearts for Sam. We had hoped to have him for many years, but those few months were a special time we will always treasure. Thank you, Sam!!! We’ll love you forever!!!

Pam and Randy adopted Dolly and Sam.  They have found the bassets to be loads of fun and the bassets are in heaven in their new home.

Sam is a big wonderful 5 year old neutered male. Sam, was an only dog in his previous home. He does not mind the older dogs here in rescue, but he isn't real happy with a young one that wants him to play. Sam was not raised around young children, so would be better with children over 7. His is one sweet boy.
