Walter Wolfe: 1993-2011
Walter came into our family on October 13 2004 and was already a grumpy old
man. It turned out that we would be his last option for no one else wanted a
senior basset with an attitude. We were so happy just to see him that we
fell in love immediately. Over the years we noticed Walter’s personality
encompass our entire life. The old man had trained us with all of his
mannerisms and attitude. One of the great things with rescues is you will
never know what personality your going to get. One evening we even learned
Walter was an Elvis fan as he sang along to “cant help falling in love with
you”. We quickly learned that Walter would decide whether or not you’d get
to share the couch or how awful the storm was outside. For years we would
enjoy a life on ski mountains and watched with joy as Walter would bound
through snow much taller than he. Walter had made many friends over the 6
years with us and is already missed by a huge group of family and friends.
We brought Walter to two Basset blasts in our time with him and at each
event he won best trick!! This was a truly impressive feat as he was
incredibly old at 13 then 14. On march 28 at 1230 in the morning we found
that Walter couldn’t fight anymore so we wrapped him up and took him to the
vet to say goodbye. We take comfort that we spoiled him for the 7 years he
was with us and everyday miss his personality. Walter, we love you and we
are sure that you will always be with us as you shared your personality with
each basset who has entered our home. |
